The Ford 601 Series came out in 1958 as a replacement or upgrade to the Ford 600 Series. In reality not much was changed. The Ford 601 has a slight boost in the horse power than the 600. Power steering became more common, but still optional in some models. Live PTO on the Ford 661 model only. Diesel engines became available. The 601 series was painted almost all red with gray grille, wheels and fenders from the factory. The gas engine is a 134 cu in and the diesel is 144 cu in. The Ford 601 Series are listed below.

 

Ford 631 has a 4 speed transmission and PTO (no Live PTO), 3 pt hitch optional and no proofmeter.

Ford 641 has a 4 speed transmission and PTO (no Live PTO), 3pt hitch and a proofmeter.

 

Ford 651 has a 5 speed transmission and PTO (no Live PTO), 3pt hitch and a proofmeter.

Ford 661 has a 5 speed transmission with Live PTO, 3pt hitch and a proofmeter.

 

Ford 671 has a Select-o-Speed transmission, single speed PTO (live or independent...however you like to define those terms)

Ford 681 is the same as the Ford 671 except with a 2 speed live pto.

 

All of the above came in either gas or diesel. All are utility models with adjustable width wide fronts.
