Allis Chalmers was originally based in Milwaukee in the 1840s. Allis Chalmers manufactured farm, mining and industrial equipment such as sawmills, grindstones and other machinery. It wasnt until 1914 that the company would expand and tap into the farm equipment industry by building its first farm tractor.

Allis Chalmers dissolved in 1985 and farm equipment operations were sold to Klockner Humboldt Deutz of Germany. Tractor production continued under the Deutz Allis name until 1989.
