In 1929, Oliver Farm Equipment Company was created by merging four smaller firms. Nearly two decades later, the company had a new line of tractors that were built over the success of the past models like 60, 70 and 80 Oliver tractors.

In the 1950s, Oliver became a leader in the tractor industry due to their promotion of diesel power. The company then created a new model of tractor called Oliver Super 55, which was their first compact utility tractor.

The White Farm Equipment Company was formed in 1969. The company was formed from the White Motor Company which had acquired Oliver and Cockshutt in 1960, and Minneapolis-Moline in 1963.  White was acquired by AGCO in 1991. AGCO continued to produce tractors under the AGCO-White brand until 2001, when it was dropped.
